VE-Net is a high technology renewable energy network sponsored by the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The aim of VE-Net is to create lasting collaboration initiatives between companies and research institutes in order to increase the application of research-based expertise in the business community.

A task for the network is to coordinate Danish research initiatives within the area of developing renewable energy technologies and how these interact with the entire energy system. Renewable energy will play an even more significant role in the future as the focus on reliability of supply, sustainability and independence intensifies.

The consortium of VE-Net includes companies and research establishments focusing on renewable energy technologies in the areas of manufacturing, application and integration of these technologies. VE-Net is the only existing network where participants from all energy fields have the opportunity to meet to discuss joint initiatives. By acting as a catalyst in the process, VE-Net is therefore able to co-ordinate and combine efforts to promote renewable energy initiatives.

VE-Net is a forum for matchmaking and through various VE-Net initiatives, companies, universities and research and technology institutes meet informally to exchange experience and discuss new ideas. As a result of these discussions, VE-Net now have several initiatives of which some have already led to development and demonstration projects.

VE-Net also works on strengthening the basis for dialogue among politicians and other decision-makers in Denmark and in the EU applying co-ordinated efforts throughout the whole energy network, from renewable and fossil energy sources to energy distribution, conversion and consumption within the whole application spectrum, including transport.

The collaboration initiatives will make Danish competences more visible and lead to new collaboration both on national and international levels, and in the end it will lead to development and marketing of new energy and environmentally efficient product and solutions.
