The Rockwool Group is the world’s leading producer of stone wool, used for its Rockwool insulation solutions. This material improves the quality of life for millions of people and helps alleviate environmental problems by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Rockwool stone wool is a natural material that results from the encounter between volcanic rock and human technology. Its remarkable properties make it a superior insulation material in terms of thermal and acoustic comfort, fire protection and interior air quality. Stone wool comes from the center of the earth. Today, it plays a key role in the construction of homes and buildings.
Founded in 1909, the Group established itself in Scandinavia then went international. Today, it has a global workforce of 8,000, with 23 plants in Europe, North America and Asia as well as a network of 20 sales subsidiaries. The head office and R&D center are located in Hedehusene, near Copenhagen, in Denmark. The R&D center is an outstanding positive-energy building. From the standpoint of low energy consumption, it outperforms almost any other in the world.
Rockwool France
Rockwool France aims to grow along with the French insulation market while retaining a production process that minimizes environmental impact. Opened in 1980, the plant at Saint Eloy les Mines, not far from the city of Clermont Ferrand, produces the insulation solutions marketed in France. The plant has continued to expand ever since, benefiting from the Group’s advanced technology.
Rockwool and the Environment
During its lifetime, a typical Rockwool insulation product can save 100 times the primary energy consumed and the CO2 emitted in the course of its manufacture, transport and incineration. The energy balance and carbon footprint turn positive only a few months after installation. |
